Accessibility commitment

Accessibility is operating infrastructure.

FLDI is being built for people who may use power wheelchairs, respiratory support, personal assistance, speech technology, eye-gaze systems, alternative communication, screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other access supports. Accessibility cannot be an afterthought.

Current website approach

Designed for more ways of using the web.

This Version 1 site is intentionally simple and static so it remains fast, readable, and easier to maintain accessibly.

Keyboard access

Navigation, links, buttons, and forms are designed to be usable without a mouse, with visible focus states.

Readable presentation

High-contrast text, responsive sizing, clear headings, generous spacing, and limited motion are used throughout the site.

Image alternatives

Meaningful photographs include alternative text so image content is not the only way information is communicated.

Reduced motion

The site respects reduced-motion preferences and avoids unnecessary animation that could interfere with use.

Tell us when something doesn't work

Accessibility feedback is part of the build.

No website is perfectly accessible for every person, device, or assistive technology. If you encounter a barrier on this site, email contact@thefldi.org and describe what you were trying to do, the page involved, and the access technology or device you were using if you are comfortable sharing it.

As FLDI adds courses, communities, forms, media, and participant systems, accessibility requirements will be evaluated for those services separately rather than assuming that an accessible brochure site makes every future program accessible.
