Organizational status & governance

Transparency while FLDI is being built.

FLDI is a real Missouri nonprofit corporation, but it is still completing the organizational steps that come before a mature operating nonprofit. This page distinguishes current status from future plans.

State status

Missouri nonprofit corporation

Full Living Disability Initiative, Inc. is listed as an Active/Compliant domestic nonprofit corporation in Missouri.

Federal tax status

501(c)(3) application being prepared

FLDI is preparing for federal recognition under Section 501(c)(3). The application has not yet been submitted, and FLDI is not currently a federally recognized 501(c)(3) organization.

Board & governance

Initial formation in progress

Initial board formation, officer/governance steps, and organizational policies are still being completed. Public leadership listings will expand as roles are formally accepted and finalized.

Governance principles

Structure should protect the mission.

FLDI's working governance framework emphasizes accountability, accessibility, and meaningful disability leadership.

Disability-led governance

As the board expands, the governance objective is meaningful representation from disabled adults and the communities FLDI serves.

Fiduciary accountability

The governing board is responsible for strategy, financial oversight, executive oversight, conflicts of interest, and responsible stewardship.

Accessible participation

Communication technology, alternative communication, scheduling, and reasonable accessibility supports should be built into governance participation.

Community input without confusion

Advisory councils and listening groups may inform program design, but they do not replace the fiduciary authority of the governing board.

What this means today

A giving pathway is being developed.

The website does not currently present FLDI as tax-exempt, does not promise that contributions are tax-deductible, and does not accept direct charitable donations through this site.

FLDI is preparing its own federal 501(c)(3) application. Until federal recognition and the organization's giving systems are ready, FLDI is not accepting direct charitable donations through this website and does not promise that a contribution would be tax-deductible.
