Give time or practical help
Express interest in communications, outreach, events, administration, accessibility, content, community-building, or other volunteer work as needs develop.
Join FLDI
If you are ready to help now—or simply want us to remember you as FLDI grows—share your name, contact information, interests, communities, and availability. You can select more than one way you may want to contribute. FLDI will use this list to follow up as volunteer, advisory, mentor, board, contributor, contractor, and future staff needs develop.
Volunteer
Express interest in communications, outreach, events, administration, accessibility, content, community-building, or other volunteer work as needs develop.
Board service
People with lived disability experience, nonprofit/governance expertise, finance, law, fundraising, partnerships, communications, or other complementary skills may express interest in future board consideration.
Work or contract roles
FLDI is not advertising a general open position through this page. You may still share your background for future staff, contractor, project, or paid-contributor opportunities as funding and programs develop.
Mentor or contributor
Potential mentors, writers, storytellers, trainers, accessibility reviewers, and other contributors can identify how they might want to participate.
Founding interest list
This form gives FLDI a practical record of people who want to help. Select every area that fits. Submissions are kept with the site's form records so FLDI can organize follow-up as volunteer needs, board conversations, projects, and funded roles develop.
This is still an expression of interest—not an employment application, board appointment, volunteer assignment, or promise of a future role.
For now, send a résumé/CV to contact@thefldi.org or paste a shareable résumé/portfolio link in the form. Please remove Social Security numbers, dates of birth, financial information, and other sensitive identifiers. A secure direct-upload option can be added later.
What FLDI values
FLDI is building toward a disability-led organization with complementary lived experience, professional skill, sound judgment, accessibility, and genuine willingness to contribute.
Some roles may call for specific expertise; others may be shaped by lived experience, creativity, community relationships, or practical contribution. The organization will define formal requirements when individual roles are opened.
A growing disability community
FLDI begins with particular depth in Duchenne/Becker, significant physical disability, power-wheelchair life, and autism/neurodivergence. Volunteers and contributors are welcome from those communities and from other disability experiences, family and partner perspectives, professional fields, and allied communities.
As FLDI grows, the populations and condition-specific spaces it serves are intended to expand when there is sufficient community leadership, accessibility, safeguarding, and program capacity. No one diagnosis is intended to define the organization forever.
Interested in supporting financially?
FLDI is not accepting direct charitable donations through this website yet. If you would like to be notified when a compliant giving pathway is available, you can join a separate support interest list.
